Change Agents UK

Change Agents UK is a charity and not-for-profit organisation. We were founded in 1996, initially as Studentforce for Sustainability, and since then we have been working towards our vision of a secure, resilient, zero-carbon and fair future for all. Our mission is to raise public awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals and the climate emergency, to support and empower the next generation to have the skills and knowledge needed for the future, and to build networks that engage individuals and organisations in working towards a zero-carbon world. We love what we do and hope to inspire you too!

There are 4 pillars to our work:

  1. Providing interactive, relevant learning opportunities for climate & sustainability action

We run careers talks and skills development workshops for young people to help them gain essential sustainability knowledge and employability skills. Our newest programme, Sustainable Futures, provides participants with a sound understanding of the principles of sustainability, how they relate to careers, what skills are now needed in society and workplaces (and how to develop them), and builds participants’ confidence in seeking and applying for jobs. This programme increases workplace preparedness and empowers participants to bring sustainability into any sector.

  1. Providing supported, meaningful, real-world work experience

We support businesses and public and third sector organisations to achieve their environmental goals by helping them recruit new Change Agents into sustainability roles. Many of these roles are ideal for recent graduates and we pride ourselves on offering a first step into careers in sustainability. We’re also a Gateway and Training organisation under the government’s Kickstart scheme, where we are helping young people gain some great experience through sustainability work placements. We provide extra professional skills training to ensure they leave their placements ready to work for positive change.

  1. Working through partnerships to achieve more, together

We all know that collaboration is essential to create a more sustainable world. We work with an array of fantastic organisations – sharing skills and expertise and co-creating impactful projects. These include place-based projects tackling community engagement, ecosystem restoration, food and fuel poverty, as well as nationwide projects furthering sustainability action plans and education for sustainable development. Our partners include Reboot the Future, PECT, EAUC, SOS-UK, Climate 2025, Root-and-Branch Out and, of course, ClimaTalk!

  1. Reaching new audiences, prioritising diversity and inclusion

Equality and diversity are at the heart of sustainability, and these themes run through all our work. We are bringing sustainability and employability learning to disadvantaged young people and regions through our Sustainable Futures programme, and we’re proud to be supporting young people at risk of long-term unemployment through the Kickstart scheme. In collaboration with our partners, we seek to enable people from all walks of life to connect with nature, gain new future-focused skills, spark climate conversations and feel empowered to take action on issues they care about.
