Global Stocktake

A key component to the Paris Agreement (Article 14). It is used to monitor the implementation of the Paris Agreement by the Parties and the collective effort by all to reach the Paris Agreements goals on emissions and reducing further global warming. The global stocktake is done by evaluating what countries have proposed in their NDCs, identify what still needs to be done for the country to achieve their NDC and to identify ways that the country could develop more ambitious NDCs taking into consideration mitigation and adaptation. The first global stocktake will take place in 2023 and then will be performed every five years by Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA).
